Nurses

Jodie: Head Nurse

Jodie started her training at Briar House in 2006 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2009. Her clinical interests include radiography and surgery, but she particularly enjoys spending the time with patients and helping them to recover.

Jodie has two cats Marvel and Pixel. They are Maine Coons and are almost as big as her!

She has a daughter who keeps her busy when she is at home. Jodie enjoys going for family walks in the woodland, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

Julii: Deputy Head Nurse

Julii qualified as veterinary nurse in 1987 and passed the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in 2000. She also qualified as a Tellington Touch practitioner in 2010. Currently Julii is working towards the veterinary nurse certificate in emergency and critical care.

She has worked in various practices around Kent and was an assistant manager at Dogs Trust in Canterbury.

Julii has a special interest in dog behaviour and training her four dogs, an Affenpinscher cross, an Italian Volpino and Pomeranian rescue dogs. All her dogs are trained for dog agility and obedience/trick training. She also has two Tortoises, a long suffering husband and grown up daughter (who is a human nurse!).

Interesting fact - one of Julii’s dogs got to the last 20 in the BBC's 'Search for Toto' and appeared on Animal Planet's 'Top Dog'.

Carina: Registered Veterinary Nurse

This is Carina with her adorable bunny called Link. She has always loved animals but made the decision to become a veterinary nurse whilst studying Animal Management at Hadlow College; the vet nursing unit was her favourite lesson.

Having brought all her childhood pets to Briar House, she thought it only natural to apply for a job here. Carina joined back in 2009 as a trainee nurse and qualified in 2011.

She has a love for all animals but has a particular soft spot for the small furries-of which she has adopted many!

One of her proudest adoptions occurred last year when with her fiance they saved three featherless ex-battery chickens which were in a really bad way, and nursed them back to full health.

Nikolina: Registered Veterinary Nurse

Nikolina qualified as a veterinary nurse in September 2016. Originally from Croatia she moved to the UK from Australia in 2004.

She has also volunteered in Cuba for a small project radio tracking manatees, dealing with reef and insect surveys and monitoring local bat populations.

Nikolina enjoys travelling the world, snowboarding and surfing. This is her with her cat Moose who was a rescue animal from Briar House.

Maddie: Veterinary Nurse Assistant

Maddie joined Briar House to work as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant while she studies to pursue her dream of becoming a Veterinary Nurse.

Maddie first knew she wanted to work with animals at the age of 7 while living in Cyprus where she helped her mum rescue strays. Since then she has done a lot of volunteer work with animals before starting her role here with us.

Maddie enjoys going to the gym, keeping fit and looking after her pets.
